Monochromatic PaintingMedium: Red, black & white tempera paints; eighth-inch thick poster board Completed: June 2010 Original Size: 16”x20” Description: For an independent art study class, I tried my hand at painting for the first time. This monochromatic painting is of Helena Bonham Carter. I first drew the image, including the regions for every shade of gray, with the dimensions doubled (the original picture was 8”x10”). Next, I mixed white and black paints with red paint to create the different shades, and filled in the regions accordingly. Shown below are some pictures to show the progression of my work as well as the process of trial-and-error I experienced in choosing the right shades as the project neared completion. |
