Drive Cueing Device
Project Overview The “Drive” vibrating wristband cueing device is designed to behaviorally manage drooling in persons with Parkinson’s disease, acting as a reminder for the wearer to swallow their saliva by vibrating at regular intervals. Between 70 and 78 percent of individuals with Parkinson’s experience problems with excess saliva and drooling, and nearly all of these people consider it to be the symptom they dislike the most. There are very few products currently on the market combating this issue, and all of them are obvious medical products. Our aim was to create a device more successful than current products which pleads the case of social acceptability by blending in as a normal accessory.
